Obit For Lois M. (Whorton) Salter

Text Lois M. Salter, 77, of Shell Knob, died at 9:45 p.m. April 11 at Balanced Care in Republic following a long illness.

Mrs. Salter was born July 10, 1921, in Keystone, Oklahoma, the daughter of Esby and Beva (McClary) Whorton. She attended Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield and taught 10 years at a business college in Kansas City. She worked for the Missouri Division of Employment Security in Kansas City and Springfield until retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Woodlawn Heights Presbyterian Church in Springfield and the Order of the Eastern Star in Forsyth. She married Ralph W. Fogler on February 14, 1960, in Miami, Oklahoma, and he preceded her in death April 4, 1964.

Survivors include one son, Schawnn Fogler of Shell Knob; one sister, Lela Jordan of Everton; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother.

Memorial services were 10 a.m. today, April 14, at Williamson Chapel in Shell Knob with Rev. Gregory Esselman officiating under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home of Shell Knob. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
