Text | G. Saloga, an excellent citizen of Capps creek township, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 1914, of paralysis. On Wednesday, March 18, the deceased was found in his barn in a helpless condition from a stroke of paralysis and gradually grew worse until his spirit was rushed into the great beyond. He was 75 years, 2 months, and 22 days of age and until his recent sickness had been enjoying the best of health. The deceased had lived in the county about 43 years and had the confidence of a large acquaintance. He is survived by a wife and four children. The funeral service were held Wednesday of last week in the presence or a large concourse of sorrowing friends and neighbors, which spoke of the high esteem in which the decease was held. Burial was made on Stone Prairie. Research Note: Stone Prairie Catholic Cemetery, stone reads: Gottfried Saloga, born Jan. 1, 1839 died March 25, 1914. His wife, Anna Melinski was born Sept. 1836 and died 9 Feb. 1926. Stone may read that his death was on the 25th and not the 24th as the obituary stated. |
