Text | Mary Clemence Decocq was born in France, April 7, 1859; came to the United States in 1875; passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs Lucie Warner, near Corsicana December 9, 1935, aged 76 years, eight months and two days. Death was the result of a fall, causing a broken hip and other complications from which she suffered for many weeks.
She was united in marriage to Julius Sass in 1886, and he preceded her in death October 26, 1893. To this union were born four children, Pierre and Julius dying in childhood, Mrs. Lucy Warner of Corsicana and Emil Sass of Port Arthur Texas, who had visited his mother a week before her death. Other relatives who survive her are three brothers, Adolph Decocq of Rosedale Ark., Ben and Lewis Decocq of Exeter, and two sisters, Mrs Annie Mutrix and Mrs. Jennie Planchon, both of Exeter; seven grandchildren and many other relatives and friends who mourn her death. Aunt Mary as she was familiarly called was loved by her neighbors as well as by her relatives and will be greatly missed in the community where she had made her home for a number of years. She was converted at an early age and was a member of the Corsicana Baptist church, living a consistant Christian life. Funeral services were conducted at the Mt. Joy church by Rev. J.T. Brattin and burial made in the Madry (Maddy) cemetery. |
