Text | W. M. Ruddick, a stranger in Galena and who was probably 30 years of age, died yesterday afternoon at about 2 o'clock at a boarding house on West Seventh Street, after a brief illness. Death was due to typhoid-malaria fever. Little could be learned about the man except that he was a member of the Red Men lodge and has a wife living at Omega, Arkansas. His father, Franklin Ruddick, lives at Berryville, Arkansas. Yesterday afternoon a telegram was received from him and he made inquiry as to his son's health. The message was answered by one which told of the death. The local Red Men lodge took charge of the body and it was embalmed. Wyatt M. Ruddick, b. 10-5-1878, I believe Jackson Co., IN, son of Franklin Ruddick b. 4-28-1850, Jackson Co., IN. Wyatt was married to Artia Reynolds (b. 6-1-1880 d. 7-1965). Wyatt was a cousin to Elizabeth (Ruddick) Vandegriff wife of William E. Vandegriff of Barry County. She married William on 10-20-1858 in Barry County. Only the additional notes important to fill in the holes for this clipping have been added here. For more information about Wyatt M. Ruddick and his cousins, please email Lewis M. Ruddick |
