Text | #1. Injuries in a two car crash at the junction of Highways 37 and 86 south of town shortly after the noon hour Wednesday proved fatal for Mrs. Ola Rose, about 65 years
of age of the Washburn community while she was enroute to a Springfield hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Rose, who were both in the car, were being taken to the hospital by Culver ambulance. Seriously injured was Mrs. Dorothy Antle of Exeter, who is an employee of the Standard Mutual Insurance Co. here. She was taken to St. John's Hospital in Springfield by Williamson ambulance, suffering from a leg fracture, knee injuries, and a severe scalp laceration. Mr. Rose was the least seriously injured with minor cuts and bruises. He was able to accompany Mrs. Rose to Springfield. She suffered crushing chest injuries. Mrs. Antle was enroute home to Exeter from Cassville in a 1961 Mercury station wagon shown above, and apparently according to officers, the Rose vehicle, a 1956 Chevrolet, was attempting to cross the highway and enter the driveway at the welding shop on the northwest corner of the junction. The Antle vehicle struck the Rose car in the right side. #2. Rites Held Sunday for Mrs. Ola Rose Last rites were conducted Sunday afternoon in Culver's chapel for Mrs. Ola Rose, 66 years old, of Washburn who was fatally injured in an automobile accident near Cassville Wednesday. The Rev. W. P. Richardson officiated and burial was in King's cemetery. Mrs. Rose was born in Barry County on August 2, 1897 and had lived in the Washburn community all her life. She was a member of the Prairie Hill Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Lemmie Rose of Washburn, Dennie Rose and Denver Rose of Cassville, C. S. Rose of Joplin, Jimmie Rose of Neosho, and Max Rose of the home; five daughters, Mrs. Titus Stephens of Washburn, Mrs. Gene Dunlap of Weir, Kansas, Mrs. Ronnie Black of Henderson, Nev., Mrs. Wendell Hopkins of Cassville, and Mrs. Ernest Hendrix of Washburn; two brothers, Colman Pippin and Layton Pippin, both of Seligman; five sisters, Mrs. Bertha Galyen of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Frank Snyder and Mrs. Florence Stepherson, both of Cassville and Mrs. Amos Williams and Miss Golda Pippin, both of Seligman; 28 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
