Text | Memorial Obit - #1. Washburn--Funeral services for Lemma Lester Rose, 77, Washburn, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Culver Chapel at Cassville with the Rev. Fred Harris and Nick Arnold officiating. Burial will be in King's Cemetery, southwest of Washburn. Mr. Rose died at 9:40 a.m. Monday in St. John's Hospital, Springfield, where he had been receiving treatment for multiple injuries suffered last Thursday in an auto accident southwest of Washburn. His wife, Edna, 74, was killed in the wreck. A native of Benton County, Ark., Rose was a member of Prairie Hill Baptist Church south of here and a member of the Washburn IOOF. He was a retired farmer. Survivors include six sons, Lionel and Jim, both of Washburn, Denny, Denver, and Max, all of Cassville, and C. S., of Palmdale, Calif.; five daughters, Mrs. Stephens and Mrs. Hendrix, both of Washburn, Mrs. Eva Mae Dalton, Pittsburg, Kan., Mrs. Mary Black, Tulsa, Okla., and Mrs. Hopkins, Cassville; two brothers, Jeff and Raymond, both of Washburn; two sisters, Mrs. Bell Lawson, Washburn, and Mrs. Jettie Wilson, Cassville; and 29 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. #2. Lemma Lester Rose was born on September 29, 1897, in Benton County, Arkansas, and lived in the Washburn area most of his life. He was a deacon at the Prairie Hill Baptist Church, south of Washburn, and was superintendent of the church's Sunday School. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Washburn IOOF Lodge. He is survived by six sons, C. S. Rose, Palmdale, California, Lionell Rose and Jim Rose, both of Washburn, and Denny Rose, Denver Rose and Max Rose, all of Cassville; five daughters, Mrs. Ina Stephens and Mrs. Olene Hendrix, both of Washburn, Mrs. Eva Mae Dalton, Pittsburg, Kansas, Mrs. Mary Black, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Alta Fern Hopkins, Cassville; two brothers, Jeff Rose and Raymond Rose, both of Washburn; two sisters, Mrs. Belle Lawson, Washburn, and Mrs. Jettie Wilson, Cassville; and 29 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Culver Chapel, Cassville, with the Rev. Fred Harris and the Rev. Nick Arnold officiating. Burial will be in the Kings Cemetery, south of Washburn. Nephews will serve as pall bearers. |
