Text | In the passing of Henry Roller the county has lost one of her pioneer residents. Mr. Roller died at Seligman where he had moved from Exeter only a week ago. He was 83 years old. Mr. Roller was a son of the late Joshua Roller who came to Barry county and settled on what is now know as Roller’s ridge south of Seligman, a number of years before the Civil War. The family came from Virginia and has been one of the largest and best known of the pioneer families of the county. He is survived by his widow and four children and a brother Marion Roller. Henry Roller, was born at Seligman, November 3, 1856. His death was sudden and unexpected. He was united in marriage to Eura Jane Morgan, at the age of 22. She proceeded him in death in 1907. There were eight children born to this union, six sons and two daughters. Four of the children proceeded him in death. He was united in marriage to Ida B. Morris, Sept. 9, 1921. She had nine children living by a former marriage. Mr. Roller is survived by four sons; Dave Roller of Rogers, Ark.; Josh of Oaklin Iowa; Frank and Jim Roller both of Seligman; also a number of grand children and great grand children and many friends. Funeral services were held at the Roller church, near Gateway, south east of Seligman, Monday afternoon, September 11, 1939 by Rev. Chas Vanzandt. Burial in the Roller cemetery, under the direction of the Horine-Culver Funeral Service.
