Text | Dortha Jean Roller, 92, of Monett, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at Lacoba Nursing Home in Monett.
She was born to Harry and Alta (Dilbeck) Bush on Feb. 24, 1921, in rural Cassville. Living all of her life in the Barry and Lawrence county area. She had attended the Quaker Elementary School and graduated from Cassville High School in 1940. She had worked for Jumping Jacks Shoe in Monett for over 20 years, as well as she had worked on the family farm. At a young age, she sang with the Star City Quartet. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Monett where she had been a Sunday school teacher. On April 5, 1941, in Monett, she married Lyle Roller. Survivors include: her son, Larry Roller, and wife Sue, of Monett; two daughters, Janice Holloway, and husband, Kenneth, of Cassville, and Lyla Salsman, and husband, Kenny, of Monett; two brothers, Frank Bush, and wife, Barbara, of Gentry, Ark., and Harry Bush, Jr., and wife, Wilma, of Kansas City, Kan.; one sister, June Leonard and husband, Bill, of Monett; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandsons; one brother-in-law, Joe Young, of Farmington. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Alta Bush; her husband, Lyle Roller; two sisters, Doris Young and Marzell Hall; and one brother-in-law, Estell Hall. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Monett with Rev. Ken Dodson officiating. Interment will be at the Arnhart Cemetery, Purdy. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the funeral home. |
