over prolonged ill health, Chas. P. Rollan, who some years ago resided on
the John Webb farm southwest of town but of late years had lived near Pea
Ridge, Ark., committed suicide at his home near Saturday morning by cutting
his throat with a pocket knife. Rollan was discovered committing the deed by his wife who immediately left the house to get assistance but on returning found her husband dead in the yard. Mr. Rollan had been afflicted for a number of yeas of kidney trouble. He grew melancholy and during the few days before his death, he seemed to become more in a gloomy state of mind. The deceased was 60 years of age and a brother of Mrs. Thos. McClure, southwest of town. He was well known in the southern part of Barry County and in the vicinity of Pea Ridge. He was a member of the Baptist Church, was highly respected and his death will be mourned by all who knew him. The remains were laid to rest Sunday in the Twelve Corner Cemetery, near Pea Ridge. A very large number of friends and acquaintance were present to pay a tribute to the departed. |
