| Text | James Roden died at the home of his sister-in-law, Mrs. Samuel Bailie, in Mountain township. Born in Giles Co., Tennessee, he came to Barry County in the 1840's. He married three times. His first wife was a sister of Asher Fly of Jenkins, by whom he had five children. His second wife died on the Gasconade shortly after giving birth to twins. The babies were given to a neighbor woman and Mr. Roden went to war. A few years ago he looked up his twins. One had died and the other was doing well. His third wife was Miss Nancy Salmon, sister of Mrs. Samuel Bailie. |
