Text J. A. Robertson died at his home two miles east of Purdy, November 14, 1929. He was the son of L. H. and Mary M. Robertson, and was born November 25, 1860. At the time of his death was 69 years, 11 months and 19 days old. He had been afflicted with cancer and was confined to his bed for 6 weeks before his death.

He was married to Sarah "Sallie" Jones September 18, 1882. To this union 9 children were born, 7 survive him and 2 died in infancy.

He was converted Oct. 19 during his sickness and called his children around his bed and told them he was ready to go. The children who survive him are Mrs. L.C. Goodnight of Purdy, Mrs. Fred Thomas of Monett, Mrs. Oran Eden of Purdy, and Mrs. Elza (?) of Stella, Mrs. Earl Eden of Sedalia, Mrs. Roscoe Prier of Purdy and M.F. Robertson of Fairview. He leaves 15 grandchildren and 2 sisters, Mrs. Nancy Fox and Mrs. Mary Herd.

His wife died in April of 1928 and since that time he has lived at the old home with a daughter who went to care for him. All his children but one were at his bedside when he died.

Funeral services were conducted at the home Friday, Nov. 15 by Rev. and Calvin Henderson and Rev. W.F. Goodnight and the remains were laid to rest in the Dice cemetery under the direction of Blankenship funeral service.
