Text | Mrs. Reed died at her home in Monett, Jan. 27th, 1914. She was born Nov. 17th 1846 and was married to Louis Pratt July 3rd 1864. She was formerly a citizen of this place and a member of the Baptist Church. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Pole [Poe] at Seligman and burial was made at that place. Three children were present. A. E. Pratt of Arkansas, Mrs. Apple of Seligman and Sybil Pratt of Monett. She was a good Christian woman and will be greatly missed. Research Note: The Barry County death reports that were taken in the 1880's record a Louis Pratt who died on April 6, 1884. He was buried in Pea Ridge, Benton Co., AR, and had lived in Washburn, MO, for 10 years. He was age 35 years, 3 months old and was a merchant. Dr. H. C. Brookshire, Washburn, MO, was the physician. His cause of death was brain congestion, neuralgia and he was married. He was ill for 2 and 1/2 days before he died. According to her daughter, Sybil's death certificate, Mrs. Reed was Sarah Ellis before she married Louis Pratt. |
