| Text | John Riley Reed was born in Barry county, Mo. near the Arkasnas line January 23, 1854 and died July 12, 1924, being 70 years, five months and nineteen days old. He lived all his life on the place he was born and was never further south than Ft. Smith or further north than Pierce City, Mo. Many Benton county people knew Uncle John. He was married to Miss Nannie Long about 43 years ago, His wife, five children, three brothers, three sisters and several grandchildren survive him. The children living are: Andy, Jess and Austin Reed, Mrs. Alice Mills and Mrs. Velma Nesbit. He professed a hope in Christ over fifty years ago and united with the Church of Christ where he lived faithfully until death came to relieve his suffering. His illness extended over a period of two years and the family wish to thank everyone who assisted them in any way during his illness and death. |
