Text | Cora Bea (Hilburn) Reed, 100, of Exeter, passed away Monday, March 10, 2014, in Mercy Hospital in Cassville.
She was born June 8, 1913, in Mano, the daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Mary Frances (Holman) Hilburn. On June 7, 1930, in Cassville, she was united in marriage to Arley Andrew Reed, who preceded her in death on July 23, 1982. Also preceding her in death were her parents; two sons, Orville Reed and Thomas Reed; one daughter, Barbara Sue Reed; two brothers; and six sisters. Survivors include: two sons, James Reed and his wife, Susie, of Exeter, and Jack Reed and his wife, Ema Lea, of Lawrence, Kan.; daughter--in-law, Annabel Reed, of Roeland, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grand-children. She received her education at Shady Grove and Cassville Schools. She was a life-long resident of Barry County, where she was a homemaker and worked as a cook at Rainbow Dinner House and Main Street Cafe. For several years, she worked as a cook for the Exeter Schools. She was a member of Butterfield Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Doyle Russell will conduct the services. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Cassville. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. |
