Text | Clarence E. Reed, 92, of Cassville, MO, died Saturday, May 20, 2006, at the Red Rose Inn of Cassville. He was born Aug. 21, 1913, in Exeter, MO, to John P. and Jewel (Ellis) Reed. He graduated from Monett High School and continued his education at Monett Junior College, Monett, MO. He graduated in 1936 from the University of Missouri Law School at Columbia, MO. He was married on Dec. 29, 1938, in Monett. He was a state legislator for two years, 1939 to 1940. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Following his discharge, he worked as an attorney for the Veterans Administration for 30 years. He was in private practice with Emory Melton Law Offices for 15 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Cassville. He was an avid reader and enjoyed golfing, fishing and traveling. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Reed; a sister, Annabelle Bass; and two brothers-in-law, Everett Wheeler and Gene Bass. Survivors include his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law; a sister; and three grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cassville. Graveside funeral services with military honors will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, at the Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Sid Allsbury and Emory Melton. Arrangements are by Fohn Funeral Home of Cassville. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Cassville, to the Cassville Senior Center or to the American Cancer Society, in care of Fohn Funeral Home of Cassville. |
