Headline | Civil War Veteran Dies At Stella |
Text | This part of the state lost another of the fast dismissing Civil War Veterans when John Reavley, 91 years old, passed away at six o’clock Monday, Jan. 1, at his home in Stella. He had resided in Stella more than twenty-five years. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Rosa Lucas, living east of Joplin, and Mrs. Mollie Lucas of Stella; twelve grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 2 at the Stella Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. R. Porter of Neosho. Members of the Neosho Masonic Lodge, of which Mr. Reavley was a member, were in charge of the services at the grave in the Macedonia Cemetery. Research Note: This cemetery is in Newton County. |
