Text | Robert Darrel Raines was born in Salem, Iowa. He was a son of the late Reuben Raines. He died May 1, in the Wheaton hospital, following an operation for appendicitis. He was married to Mabel McCaslin in 1902. To this union five children were born, two dying some years ago. The children living are Mona, Ruth, Carl Woodrow and Willis Morris, at home in Cassville. He also leaves his mother and one brother, James Raines of Washburn, and sisters, Mrs. Iola Lough of Reubens, Ida., Mrs. Stella Farwell of Cassville, Mrs. Caddie Robertson of Moab, Utah and Miss Gertie Raines of Marionville. Mr. Raines united with the Christian church in early life. He leaves a host of friends who admired his sterling honesty, and upright life. Funeral services were held at the Washburn Prairie church, on Thursday afternoon, May 3, 1934 by Chas. Vanzandt, with burial in the Washburn Prairie cemetery under direction of the Horine-Culver Funeral Service. A quartette composed of Mrs. John Ray, Mrs. Glen Pearl, Chas.Willis and Clinton Blythe furnished music at the services.
