Text | Bennie Ralph Ragland, 74, of Bentonville, Ark., died Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rogers. He was born Jan. 2, 1931 in Leflore, Okla., to Luther Jefferson and Lucy Irene (Webb) Ragland. He was married Oct. 17, 1953, at Seligman, Mo., to Mary Lou Browning. The couple resided at Ardmore, Okla., while he was a member of the U.S. Air Force. He served four years during the Korean conflict. After receiving a teaching degree from Southwest Missouri State University, the couple resided in New Haven, Mo. Beginning in 1956, he served as a teacher for four years and school superintendent for 27 years. The couple moved to Bentonville, Ark., in 1991. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bentonville. He served as a deacon at the First Baptist Church in New Haven. He also served as park pastor at Country Palms R. V. Park in San Juan, Texas, for 13 years. Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, of Shell Knob, Mo.; a brother of Rogers; four sisters of Rogers, Monett, Mo., Cassville, Mo., and Seligman; and a grandson of Springdale, Ark. Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 28, at the First Baptist Church in Bentonville with Pastor Phillip Smith. Burial was in the Seligman Cemetery in Seligman, Mo., with full military honors by the Bella Vista Honor Guard. Arrangements were under the direction of the Rollins Funeral Home. |
