Obit For Alice Tennessee (Banks) Potts
Headline LAST RITES FOR ONE OF COUNTY'S OLDEST NATIVES
Text Last rites were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Dent Cemetery , for Mrs. Alice Potts under the direction of the Culver Funeral Home.

Alice Tennessee, daughter of Lott and Rebecca (name wrong, see notes) Banks, was born in Barry County on May 3, 1865 and passed away at her home May 17, 1957, at the age of 92 years.

In 1883 she married William Potts and to this union five children were born. One daughter, Gertie preceded her in death, also her husband in 1894.

In 1845 her father, Tug Webb, and Burl Goins and John Henry came from Tennessee in a covered wagon and settled in Barry County. Mrs. Potts spent her entire life in the Maple Grove community in Ash Township where she was born. She had been an invalid for the past several years.

Surviving are two daughters, two sons,12 grandchildren,32 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren;one brother and one sister. Funeral services were conducted by Bro. I.D. Ames with burial at Dent Cemetery under the direction of Culver's.

Donna Cooper's Note: Alice Tennessee Banks was a daughter of Lot and Elizabeth Ann (Woodard) Banks, her mother's name was NOT *** Rebecca as the obit reads. The Woodard family called Elizabeth - "Aunt Bets Ann", short for Elizabeth Ann.

Alice married William F. Potts on Oct 7, 1883 in Barry Co., MO. They lived on the Barry County and the Arkansas line, but in Benton County, AR. Her death certificate was filed in Barry Co., MO. The informant was Dona Potts, Garfield, Arkansas. It listed also that Rebecca Woodard (incorrect) was Alice's mother. Burial was by Culver's Funeral Home in Cassville.

Dona Potts (1886) was a daughter of William F. Potts and Alice Tennessee (Woodard) Potts.
