Text | Zannie Poe, 93, of Garfield, Ark., passed away Monday, March 14, 2016, in Concordia Nursing and Rehab, Bella Vista, Ark.
He was born Jan. 25, 1923, in Garfield, Ark., the son of Zannie Sam and Lillian M. (Ellington) Poe. On Jan. 7, 1949, in Garfield he was united in marriage to Florence Morrison, who survives. Additional survivors include: five children, Sheila Chandler and her husband, Earl, of Centerton, Ark., Perry D. Poe and his wife, Linda, of Georgia, Daniel N. Poe, of Garfield, Ark., Phillip A. Poe and his wife, Jane, of Bella Vista, Ark., and Wendy J. Poe of Rogers, Ark.; 13 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother and three sisters. He graduated from Garfield High School. During World War II he joined the U.S. Army Airforce where he was an airplane mechanic. He was a heavy equipment operator, building many of the major highways in the area. He was a member of the Baptist faith. Graveside services with military honors were held Wednesday at Ruddick Cemetery, Garfield, Ark., under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Mark Morrison conducted the services. |
