| Text | Grandma Pitts who has been quite an invalid since falling and fracturing her hip last winter took suddenly worse about a week ago and died Friday evening of last week at her home in Purdy. Grandma was 67 years of age and had raised quite a family. The children, three boys and two girls, were at her bedside the last week and comforted her all they could. She was laid to rest in the Arnhart Cemetery Saturday evening after funeral services conducted by Rev. Ed Brown. Grandpa Pitts and the children have our sympathy. Research Note: At Arnhart, Sarah A. Pitts, April 20, 1846 - June 19, 1914. On the same stone with Sarah was Alfred Pitts, born Feb. 18, 1843, no death date. Also there were Harried R., June 13, 1866 - Aug. 20, 1869, dau. of A. & S.; Jesse F., Sept. 2, 1872 - April 19, 1903. Death Certificate for Sarah A. Pitts, died June 14, 1914, in Barry Co., MO, reads that her father was Ben Whittington. She was born April 30, 1846. The June Kunkel transcription in the cemetery book has April 20th as her birth date, death certificate reads April 30th. |
