Text | Roberta Clare Pilant, 71, of Cassville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, in Mercy Hospital, Cassville.
She was born Sept. 2, 1942, in Joplin, the daughter of Eleanor (Stapleton) Stewart. On March 7, 1975, in Cassville, she was united in marriage to James "Jim" Pilant, who survives. Additional survivors include: one stepson, Lance Pilant and his wife, Ksenia, of Moscow, Russia; one stepdaughter, Debra Nickle and her husband, Bruce, of Cassville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her mother and her first husband, Stogie Ennis. She grew up in Washburn and was a graduate of Southwest High School. For several years, she was employed as a telephone company dispatcher for Continental Telephone, from which she retired. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Pilant Cemetery, Cassville, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Art Rogers will conduct the services. Contributions may be made to her great grandchildren's education fund in her memory. Donna Cooper's Note: Roberta lived behind the Seligman School building with her mother and grandparents.
