Obit For Willis D. Pendergraft
Headline YOUNG MAN LOSES LIFE WHEN DOG CAUSES CAR TO TURN OVER
Will Pendergraft, Age 33, Killed While on Way to Work on Highway Saturday.
Text WILL PENDERGRAFT, age 34 son of the last Quince Pendergraft, of the Seligman community, died within a few minutes early Saturday morning after his Ford car in which he was driving to work, turned over on Highway 37 at Old Washburn. He was rushed to Cassville but died on the way before medical attention could be obtained.

Will was one of the men employed in work of preparing the highway between Cassville and Washburn for black-topping. Reaching Old Washburn, he stopped and picked up two other men who are also at work on the highway. They had gone only a short distance when a dog ran out into the path of the car, which turned completely around in the road and turned over. Will was stuck by the steering wheel about the center of the body. He spoke a few words following the accident, saying that the blow had killed him.

After an examination by Dr. G. W. Salyer, the body was taken to Koon Funeral Home where it was prepared for interment. The two men riding with him were only slightly injured.

He is survived by his widow and three children; a daughter age 12, one son 9 and another 19 months old, his mother and one brother, Arthur and three sisters.

Funeral services were held Sunday Afternoon, April 30, at the church in Seligman, conducted by Rev. Monta Taylor. Burial was made in the Seligman cemetery, the Koon Funeral Service of this city in charge.
