Text | Richard "Chick" Pendergraft, 78 years of age, passed away after fighting a long courageous battle with cancer on August 21, 2015, in Cox Medical Center Springfield. He was born in Sedan, Kan., on Dec. 15, 1936, to Bruce and Grace (Millison) Pendergraft. He spent his life in service to his country and retired from the U.S. Marine Corps. Preceding him in death are his parents; a son; four brothers, Wayne, Steve, Dwight and Marvin; two sisters, Betty and Letha. He leaves behind his wife of 19 years, Mary Ann, of Springfield; a daughter, Tiffany Goodwin, of Porter Ind.; one brother, Jim (Jan) Pendergraft; five sisters, Sharon, Linda, Margaret, Nina and Jean; plus a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Richard will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Donations may be made in his honor to The Salvation Army or The American Cancer Society. A graveside service will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 31, under the direction of Walnut Lawn Funeral Home. |
