Text | Mary Wallace Pendergraft was born in Lee county, Va. Feb. 6, 1849. She came to Missouri with her parents when two years old, and settled in Barry County, where she lived all of her life. She was married to John Pendergraft Feb. 9, 1873. He passed on to his reward 25 years ago. To this union was born one son, with whom she made her home. Died Dec. 23, 1928, age 79 years, 19 months and 17 days. She was converted at an early age and joined the Baptist church at New Salem, where she was an active member until the church disbanded. She is survived by her only son, Elbert Pendergraft, two grandsons, Evert and Lloyd Pendergraft, two sisters, Massie Bowman Seligman, Harriet Edens Wasbhurn, two brothers Jim Wallace Seligman and Bill Wallace Hastings, Okla., two half brothers, Dave Wallace, Carlisle Washington, Adam Wallace, Stanley Okla., and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her death. Funeral service was conducted at New Salem by Rev. C. M. Smith. |
