Text | John James Payton, 83, 213 Harmony, Noel, died Friday afternoon at Cardwell Memorial Hospital in Stella where he had been a patient two weeks. Mr. Payton was born in Pineville and was a retired farmer. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Dovey Payton; four daughters, Mrs. Dovey Fromm, Adrian, Mich., Mrs. Goldie Smith, Tecumseh, Mich., Mrs. Daisy Neeper, Linwood, Calif. and Mrs. Sylia Thompson, Natchez, Wash.; and four sons, Everett, Carthage, Johnnie, Exeter, Carl, Kansas City, Kan. and Eugene, Bellville, Mich. Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Tuesday in the Union Church near Longview with the Rev. Johnny Williams officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery under the direction of Ozark Funeral Home of Noel. Research Note: John James Payton married Dovey Louise Bailey Dec. 13, 1907. She lived most of her life in Berryville, AR, and was a daughter of Elijah and America Melinda (Simpson) (Simpson) (Wilkerson) Bailey. Dovey was a half-sister to James Harvey (Simpson) Mooney, John Simpson and Charles Wilkerson. John James Payton was a son of William Isaiah and Amanda Jane (Maxwell) Payton. He was born in Pineville, McDonald Co., MO, and died in Stella, Newton Co., MO. They are both buried in Union Cemetery, McDonald Co., MO. |
