Joe Allen Packwood, 61, of Wheaton, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, in his home.
He was born October 31, 1951, in Wheaton, Missouri, the son of Kenneth and Sarah Lenore (Privett) Packwood. On November 28, 1970, in Wheaton, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Sheila Brattin, who survives. Also surviving are: one daughter, Lisa Miller and her husband, Joey, of Cassville, Missouri; his mother, Lenore Haynes and her husband, Ron, of Blue Springs, Missouri; his father, Kenneth Packwood, of Verona, Missouri; four brothers, Greg Packwood and his wife, Tresa, of Bates City, Missouri, Kevin Packwood and his wife, Tammy, of Verona, Missouri, Gary Packwood and his wife, Denise, of Aurora, Missouri and Bobby Haynes and his wife, June, of Oak Grove, Missouri; four sisters, Joyce Stuhlsatz and her husband, Ted, of Oak Grove, Missouri, Carla Halterman, of Aurora, Missouri, Kay Roberts, of Springfield, Missouri, and Melissa Haynes, of Kansas City, Missouri; and two grandchildren, Lexi Miller and Cole Miller. Preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents, Claude and Grace Privett; paternal grandparents, Wayne and Ina Packwood; mother - and father-in-law, Robbie and Vivian Brattin and a brother-in-law, Rex Brattin. Joe was a graduate of Wheaton High School and a life-long resident of Wheaton. He owned and operated Packwood Saddlery and later the Junction Quick-Stop. He was a member of Ridgley Baptist Church. For over 30 years he was a softball mentor and instructor and was an absolute fan. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013, in Ridgley Baptist Church, under direction of McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. The speakers were Steve Spillman and Scott Mitchell. Burial was at Rocky Comfort Cemetery. |
