Text | Burney Packwood, son of Napoleon B. and Sarah A. Packwood, born at home on Shoal Creek on March 23, 1890, and departed this life at Billings, Montana, on Jan 2, 1939, at the age of 48 years, 9 months and 10 days. His early boyhood days were spent at home, but at about the age of 15 years he went to the West and spent most of his remaining life there. He came to Missouri occasionally to visit his parents and other relatives. His last visit was in the spring of 1937. He had been in failing health lately, but was planning to visit his mother again next spring. He was married to Evelyn Palmer at Billings, Mon., and to this union five sons were born. He was preceded in death by one son, two brothers and his father. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and four sons who are Burley, Jr., in college at Doberman, Montana and Palmer, Delbert and Otis of Billings, also his aged mother Sarah A. Packwood of Exeter, Mo., and four brothers, Horace, Arthur and Roy of Exeter, Rolla of Kansas City and two sisters, Mrs. Oma Roller of Seligman, Mo., and Mrs. Mamie Barnett of Exeter, and many other relative and friends. The remains were brought to Exeter where funeral services were held at the Baptist Church on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 7, 1939, by Rev. Chas. McNabb and Rev. Chas. Vanzandt, with burial in Maplewood Cemetery at Exeter under the direction of the Koon Funeral Home. The following nephews of the deceased were acting pall bearers: E. E. Lauderdale, V. N. Barnett, W. A. Packwood, Sterling Barnett, Carl Roller and Eston Packwood. |
