Text Miss Pauline Owings, a daughter of Vance Owings of near Exeter, died in a Springfield Hospital at about noon, last Monday, following an operation for an abscessed kidney. She was 17 years old and had been sick for the past several weeks. Some weeks ago, she suffered an attack of influenza and it was soon after she recovered from that ailment, that her condition grew more serious from her fatal ailment.

Miss Owings had been working at the home of Dr. Chandler in this city but was compelled to return to her home when her condition took a turn for the worse. She was taken to Springfield, in the Bradford Ambulance, accompanied by Dr. Chandler, last Saturday afternoon and the operation was performed Sunday morning. She survived the operation, according to reports, but her condition was such that recovery was impossible.

Miss Owings was a beautiful and excellent young lady and loved by all who knew her. She was born and raised near Exeter, where she had lived all her life.

The remains were returned to her old home and funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, after which interment was made in the Washburn Prairie cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. Chas Vanzandt of Exeter. In addition to her father, she leaves some brothers and sisters and a grandfather. Mr. Ireland, to mourn her passing.
