Text | Edna J. Owens, 94, of Wheaton, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, in St. John's Hospital, Cassville. She was born Oct. 23, 1916, in Bentonville, Ark., the daughter of Ernest and Margarett "Bell" (Mahurin) Letts. On Nov. 23, 1936, in Garfield, Ark., she was united in marriage to Herschell Owens, who preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 1968. Also preceding her in death were her parents; two daughters, Betty Jean Owens and Norma Faye Owens; five brothers, Lloyd Letts, Floyd Letts, Everett Letts, Edmond Letts and Bob Letts; two sisters, Blanche Ridenour and Gladys Russell; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Survivors include: three sons, Louis Owens and his wife, Darlene, of WaKeeney, Kan., Albert Ray Owens, of Goodman, and Robert Owens and his wife, Evelyn, of Anderson; one daughter, Barbara Owens, of Wheaton; one brother, Amos Letts, of Goodman; one sister, Bonnie Brandt, of Purdy; 18 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren. She received her education at Newtonia. Most of her life was spent in Barry County She retired from Tyson's in 1983. For a short time, she lived in California, where she was a juvenile officer for the state of California. She was a member of United Pentecostal Church in Arvin, Calif. Funeral services were held Friday in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Rev. Don Gene Hazelwood and Jason Townsend conducted the services. Burial was at Arnhart Cemetery, Purdy. |
