Text | Obit#1 Eliza Swindle was born November 29, 1863 and died October 2?, 1928 at the age of 64 years and 11 months. She was united in marriage to R. C. Overton December 24, 1882. To this union were born three children; Minnie Brattin of Wheaton, Wendell Ira, of Purdy, and Homer of Ft. Leavenworth, Kan. Her husband, her children and six grand children survive her. She leaves, also, four brothers and three sisters; John Swindle, of Deer, Ark., Lafayette, of Hollywood, Calif., George of Fairview, Abe of Santa Anna, Calif., Martha Parks, of Sumas, Washington, Nannie Overton of Purdy, Frances Holmes of Wheaton, and a step-sister, Sarah Garrison of Verona, Mo. She was an earnest student of the Bible, a true Christian, a devoted wife and mother, and the number of her friends is the number of her acquaintances. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. A. Meggison of Galena, Kan., Wednesday afternoon at the Baptist church and internment made in the Rocky Comfort Cemetery under the direction of Pogue Undertaking. Obit #2 Mrs. Ellen Overton died at her home in Wheaton Monday morning following an attack of heart trouble. She took sick Sunday afternoon and died the following morning. Mrs. Overton was a well known and highly respected citizen who had resided in that section of the county all her life. Mrs. Overton was about 65 years old and was daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Swindle, old time and highly respected citizens of this county. She has lived in the Shoal Creek country, where she was born, all of her life. She was a member of the church and leaves one girl, Mrs. Walter Brattin of Wheaton, and two sons. Ira, who resides on the old home place on Shoal Creek and another son residing in California. All of her children were at her bedside at the time of her passing. Mrs. Overton was a wonderful character, possessing many true friends who had loved her since childhood. She was an excellent neighbor and did much for humanity. Funeral services were conducted at the Wheaton Baptist church Wednesday afternoon, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Rocky Comfort cemetery. A large number of sorrowing relatives and friends attended the services and interment. The Democrat sympathizes with the grief stricken family.
