W. T. Northcutt, a highly respected citizen of this county passed away suddenly at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. G. Henbest at Seligman, Saturday night.

About four years ago Mr. Northcutt had a stroke of apoplexy and has had lighter attacks since. For the past few months he had been enjoying better health that usual and had talked to his friends and Saturday about his unusual good health. He retired Saturday night about 8 o'clock and was found dead Sunday morning by his daughter.

Mr. Northcutt was 65 years of age and was born in the northern part of the state. Besides his daughter he leaves two sons J. W. Northcutt of Exeter and B. P. Northcutt of Seligman. He is also survived by an aged mother, three sisters and a brother.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. M. Smith, Monday afternoon, and his body was laid to rest in the Roller (aka King) Cemetery north Seligman. The deceased was a member of the Baptist Church and in his death the county loses another conscientious Christian man whose life posed a character of good citizenship to his community.

W.T. Northcutt, an old settler of Barry county, died suddenly at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henbest, at Seligman, Sunday morning. His death was caused by apoplexy.

Mr. Northcutt had a stroke of apoplexy five years ago and had lighter attacks later. He died sometime early Sunday morning and was found dead in his bed by the family. He was 65 years of age. Besides his daughter he leaves two sons, Walther Northcutt of Exeter and Burl Northcutt, of Seligman.

His funeral was attended by his mother, Mrs. J. K. Northcutt, who is 89 years old. His sisters, Mrs. O Barker, of Monett, Mrs. W.S. Carlin, of Purdy, and Mrs. J. H. Inman, of Webb City, also a brother.

Research Note: He was a son of Joseph Kennard Ellis Northcutt, born VA and Jemima Turner Parks born KY. He married Mary Elizabeth Gowen. His death certificate has his birth year as 1837. He was widowed and a merchant. His father was born in VA and his mother was born in KY. B. P. Northcutt of Seligman, MO was the informant.
