Text | Julia A. McKinney died March 4th, 1912, at her home on Kings Prairie. Grandma McKinney was born in West Virginia, Oct. 15, 1832. She was married to
J. H. McKinney, Feb. 24, 1853. To this union were born fifteen children of
which ten survives, Mrs. R. J. Miller, Holdenville, Okla.; Mrs. J. Cooley,
Ardmore, Okla.; Mrs. John F. Henderson, Monett; Mrs. Morgan Pannell, Mineral
Springs; Messrs. T. K. McKinney, Carthage; W. M. McKinney, Verona; N. L.
McKinney, Sarcoxie; J. F. McKinney, Songer, Calif.; I. A. McKinney, Monett
and 54 grandchildren.
She was converted at the age of 17 years and was a member of the Baptist Church for over fifty years. Grandma McKinney will be missed by all who knew her and the grieved children have the heart felt sympathy of the community. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Crouch and the remains were laid to rest in the Bethel Cemetery. Research Note: Grandma McKinney was Julia Ann Blankenship and her husband was James Harrison McKinney who died 22 Oct. 1878 in a hunting accident. |
