Headline | JAMES McINTOSH DIES AT HIS HOME MONDAY MORNING |
Text | James W. McIntosh, 77 years old, a well known farmer and fruit grower of the Gunter neighborhood died at 6 o'clock Monday morning, May 9, of pneumonia. He had been sick for about two weeks. Mr. McIntosh is survived by his wife, two sons and five daughters. His sons are Will McIntosh, of Oklahoma and Walter McIntosh of Purdy. The daughters are Mrs. Eb McPhail, Mrs. Walter Jackson, Mrs. Otis Henderson, Mrs. Bessie Harris and Mrs. Emma Taylor, all of this county. Besides his immediate family Mr. McIntosh is survived by two brothers, G. W. McIntosh, of California, and three sisters, Mrs. Geo. McComas, of Canada; Mrs. Margaret McMillen and Mrs. Mary Bryant, of Pittsburgh, PA. Mr. McIntosh is one of the pioneer citizens of the county. Funeral services will be held at Gunter Church at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Goodnight. Mr. McIntosh had resided in this county for many years and was well and favorable known. He was prominent in political affairs of the county, affiliated with the Republican party and had many friends throughout this section who will be grieved to learn of his passing. Research Note: James' wife was Fannie M. (Fowler) McIntosh. Besides the two sons mentioned he had a third, Allen McIntosh of Spiritwood, Saskatchewan, Canada. Mrs. Eb McPhail was Nellie May (McIntosh) McPhail. Mrs. Walter Jackson was Alice M (McIntosh) Jackson. Mrs. Otis Henderson was Norine Jennie (McIntosh) Henderson. Mrs. Bessie Harris was Bessie June (McIntosh) Harris and was a widow of Roy Harris. Mrs. Emma Taylor was married to Clarence Taylor. His two survivng brothers were Isaac McIntosh, of CA and George Wesley McIntosh, that farmed most of his life in Kings Prairie Twp. The sister Mrs. Geo. McComas was Elizabeth (McIntosh) McComas and lived at Shellbrook, Saskatchewan, Canada. |
