Text | Andrew McGlothlin was born near Wheaton, Mo., May 16, 1858. He departed this life Feb 2, 1943 at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 10 days. He suffered two strokes last week and remained in an unconscious condition to death. He was united in marriage to Caroline Woods Dec. 5, 1880. To this union four children were born, three boys and one girl. He wife and two children preceded him in death. In 1923 he was united in marriage to Nancy Matlock, who also preceded him in death. He was converted at an early age and united with the Methodist church at Oak Grove. He later joined the Baptist church at Rocky Comfort. After the Wheaton church was built he moved his membership to Wheaton and remained a faithful member until death. "Uncle Dodge" as he was known to everyone, had lived his entire life on the farm where he was born. His son, Arthur, had lived with him for some time and cared for him in his later years. He is survived by two sons, Arthur, of the home, and Fred, of Kansas City, Mo., three grandchildren and one great grandchild; one brother, Marion McGlothlin, of Exeter, Mo., and one half brother, Noah Davidson, of Fairview, Mo. One brother, two half brothers and two half sisters preceded him in death. He was a devoted husband and father and will be sadly missed by a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at the Wheaton Baptist church Wednesday afternoon by Rev. Chas. Vanzandt and burial made in the Chitwood cemetery under the direction of the Wheaton Funeral home. Flower girls were Joan Lamberson, Rose Ann Swindell, Mary Pearl Lamberson and Mary Jane Sherrck. Pallbearers were James Barnett, Basil Duncan, Olin Cartwright, Earl Duncan, Larry Lamberson, and V. Davidson. |
