Obit For Gerald L. McCracken

Text #1. Gerald L. McCracken, 73, of Monett, died at 9:30 a.m. yesterday, September 6, at Lacoba Nursing Home in Monett.

Mr. McCracken was born March 21, 1928, in St. Louis, the son of Ira and Nila (Garrison) McCracken. He was retired as a truck driver for Kay Concrete in Monett. He was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church in Wheaton. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a member of 40/8 of the American Legion for 35 years, past commander of Hobbs-Anderson Post 91 Monett American Legion, past 15th District commander of the American Legion, and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He married Patty Lockhart on November 26, 1953, in Cassville.

Survivors include two daughters, two brothers and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Nolan McCracken, Bill McCracken, and Norman McCracken.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, September 9, at Buchanan Chapel in Monett with Rev. Walt Hamer officiating. Burial will be in Monett IOOF Cemetery under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home of Monett.

#2. Services for Gerald L. McCracken, 73, of Monett, who died September 6, were held at 2 p.m. yesterday, September 9, at Buchanan Chapel in Monett with Rev. Walt Hamer officiating.

Music was provided by soloist Brad Ridenour who sang Precious Memories, Mansion Over The Hilltop, and Amazing Grace. Accompanist was Jo Ann Thomas.

Casketbearers were Mike Kennedy, Marc McCracken, Danny Miller, Dale McCracken, Mike McCracken, and Rusty Pendergraft.

Military graveside rites were conducted by members of Hobbs-Anderson Post 91 Monett American Legion. Participating were Dayton Mackey, Wayne Rutherford, Arlie Holle, Wilmer Bray, George Ballay, Cliff Linder, Don Babcock, Jim Hancock, John Krause, Dick Hunnekens, Chet Steffen, Bob Baum, Bob Muench, Rex Lane, and Gene Mulvaney. The flag was folded by Wayne Rutherford and Don Babcock and presented to the wife of the deceased by Wilmer Bray.

Burial was in Monett IOOF Cemetery under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home of Monett.
