Headline REV. McCRACKEN DIES NEAR MT. VERNON
Text Widely known Presbyterian Pastor Succumbs to an attack of Pneumonia Mt. Vernon, Mo., Feb. 2. The Rev. E. W. McCracken, 68 years and widely known Presbyterian Minister, who has been in Pastoral and evangelistic work in Southwest Missouri since 1889, died at his home five miles east of Mt. Vernon at 3 o'clock this morning from pneumonia. At the time of his death Mr. McCracken was pastor of two rural Presbyterian churches in this community.

Mr. McCracken is survived by a wife, four daughters and three sons.

The minister was an early settler in Southwest Mo., first residing on a farm near Cassville. He worked his way into the ministry by studying at home. Most of his life was spent in the vicinity of Sarcoxie, where he was pastor of a church. He was a member of the Carthage Presbytery and is known by virtually all ministers in this part of the state.

Funeral services will be held Saturday. At 11 o'clock Saturday morning, a service will be held at the Union Presbyterian church 5 miles east of Mt. Vernon at which the various ministers of the eastern section of the Carthage Presbytery will officiate.

At two o'clock, services in charge of the ministers of the Wheaton section of Carthage Presbytery will be held at the Sarcoxie Presbyterian church where once he was pastor.

The Masons will have charge of services at the grave. Burial will be in Sarcoxie cemetery, Joplin Globe.
