Text | Reams McCormick, an old time and highly respected citizen of Washburn, passed away last Thursday at the age of 83 years. He was born in Jackson county, Tenn., and in February, 1875 was married to Miss Sarah Rhoden to which union six children were born, who are: Andrew and Harrison of Colorado. Mrs. Ben Davis, Mrs. Ike Henry, Mrs. Jas. Nodine and Mrs. W.O. Gates, all of Washburn. He also leaves his grief stricken wife and 27 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mr. McCormick was a prominent farmer of that locality and stood high in the estimation of all who knew him. He had lived in that section for many years and raised a clean, honorable and upright family. The loss of such a good citizen as he is a severe blow to any community. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Jas. Brattin Thursday afternoon which the remains were laid to rest in Washburn Prairie cemetery under direction of Bar Undertaking Co., of Exeter. A large number of sorrowing relatives and friends attended the services. The Democrat extended the sympathy to the bereaved family in their sad hour.
