Text | Finis L. McClure, the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. McClure died at the home of his parents 4 miles south of Cassville, Feb.
8, 1908 at 10:20 a.m. after a brief illness from the effects of pneumonia.
He was born Nov. 2, 1857 and was 50 years, 3 months and 6 days old. He was converted when about 18 years of age. Thus Bro. McClure complied with his Saviour's teaching wherein he teaches to "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added to you." He united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church and lived a faithful christian life until the congregation was dissolved. Notwithstanding the dissolution of the congregation, he never ceased to exercise faith in God. Bro. Finis McClure was a good citizen and a kind hearted neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand to all who were afflicted and in need. He leaves behind to mourn his loss an aged father and mother and a number of brothers and sisters. But their loss is his gain for he is now at rest. The funeral was conducted at the residence of his father Sunday Feb. 9, by A.K. Gurley in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends and his body was laid to rest in the Washburn Prarie cemetery. A FRIEND Research Note: Finis L. McClure, 1857 - 1908 |
