Text | Mary Adeline Haddock, was born January 1, 1865 and passed away at her home in Fairview, Mo., April 4, 1939, at the age of 64 years, 3 months and 3 days. In February 1912, she was united in marriage to Henry B. McCary, who preceded her in death. She was converted at an early age and at the time of her death was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church of Fairview, Mo. She was always found at her post of duty so long as her health would permit. She reared five brothers and sisters to manhood and womanhood, and later took five orphan children of her brother's into her heart and home, whom she cared for with a mother's love and care. She leaves to mourn her passing, two sisters, Mrs. Ann Medlin of Joplin, Mo., two brothers, J.C. Haddock of Cocora, N. M., and Bill Haddock of Fairvew, Mo., and a host of other relatives and friends. It can be said thoughtfully that she has done her part in life, she has fought a good fight - the victory won and home, sweet happy home at last. Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church in Fairview on Thursday afternoon, April 6 by Chas. Vanzandt of Exeter and burial made in the Chitwood Cemetery, south of Wheaton, under the direction of the Horine Culver Undertaking Co. Research Note: Mary was a daughter of Noah and Harriett (Crumley) Haddock. Her mother, Harriett, died in 1888 and there were 5 small children in the family at the time of her death. Mary is buried next to Henry McCary and at the foot of the graves of parents, Noah and Harriett at Chitwood. She has a homemade marker. |
