Text | John E. Moore, 89, of Monett, died at 1:55 p.m. November 11 at Cox Walnut Lawn Hospital in
Springfield. Mr. Moore was born July 31, 1912, in Purdy, the son of James and Caddie (Boucher) Moore. He was a graduate of Monett High School, Monett Junior College, and the University of Missouri. He had been a member of the Missouri National Guard's 203rd Coastal Artillery based in Monett and was an Army veteran of World War II, retiring from the Army reserves in 1972 with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He had been associated with Hardware Mutuals Insurance company, later Sentry Insurance, from 1948 until retiring in 1973. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Monett, leader and co-chairman of Loaves and Fishes in Monett, co-chairman of the senior group of the Monett Chamber of Commerce, and was a former member of the Ozark Festival Orchestra board of directors. He married Emma Lou Harback on Ocrober 8, 1938, and she preceded him in death in March of 1983. He married Dorothy Moore Fly on June 15, 1985, in Monett. Additional survivors include two sons, one daughter, one step-daughter, one step-son, and 12 grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. tomorrow, November 14, at the First United Methodist Church in Monett with Rev. Clif Crockett officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery in Monett under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home of Monett. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, November 13, at the funeral home. |
