Headline ORLAND MOORE DIES IN JOPLIN
Text Orlando Moore for many years a citizen of Stella and Neosho, died in Joplin last Saturday afternoon. His only daughter Mrs. ___ Plumee of Roy, N. Mex., was notified Saturday of his sickness and arrived in Joplin just an hour after his death.

Mr. Moore, who was about 75 years old, was taken to Shoal Creek on Wednesday by a jitney driver for a day's fishing and when the driver was not looking he got into the water, apparently having lost his reason. The driver took him to St. Johns hospital and on Saturday when he became violent the officers took him to the city jail. On Sunday he was found dead in his cell.

Mr. Moore's wife died at Stella four years ago and since then, his daughter says, he has been very nervous. He has lived in Neosho for two years with Kit Clanton. A few weeks ago he went to Nashville, Tenn., with the intention of spending the rest of his life with a nephew, but he returned to Joplin about ten days ago.

He was a schoolteacher in McDonald County in his young manhood and lived on a farm south of Stella. Some thirty years ago he was elected county school superintendent of McDonald County and served eight years. Later he moved to Stella and was in the insurance business.

His wife was a Wolfnbarger and they had many relatives near Stella. His daughter's husband is Dr. Plumlee, a surgeon in a hospital at Roy, N. M. and they have a son C___ Plumlee who is a medical student at Washington University, St. Louis.

The body was taken to Stella for internment Tuesday and the funeral services were conducted by Rev. G. T. Kelly of Neosho.
