Text | John L. Montgomery was born in Red River County, Texas, June 28, 1848. Died March 12, 1924 at the age of 75 years, 8 months and 13 days. He was of a family of six children, four boys and two girls. His two sisters, Mrs. A. A. St??et and Mrs. Fannie Corley of Long Beach, California, survive him. He came to southwest Mo. in 1867. He was married to Margaret Hazeltine Hyatt, October 15, 1862. To this union were born two sons, C. H. Montgomery and J. W. Montgomery who are engaged in the banking business at Rocky Comfort. Mrs. Montgomery died July 15, 1896. He was later married to Mrs. Carrie Seamster, who survives him. About the year of 1870 he became a member of the Church of Christ and served faithfully the remainder of his life. Funeral services were conducted at the Christian Church of Rocky Comfort by Rev. Hinds, Friday afternoon and the body buried in the Rocky Comfort cemetery. |
