Text | Died, Thursday, August 27, Rev. Roland Moffatt, aged 80
years; 7 months, and 8 days. The deceased was born in West Springfield, Mass.,
Jan. 19, 1815, the son of Lewis D. and Asentha Moffatt. At the age of 10 he moved to New York and from there to Wisconsin in the year of 1850, where he entered on his ministerial service in 1851, and traveled some twenty circuits in that state. In 1869, he removed to Nevada, Vernon Co., MO, and entered on his ministerial work and worked about eight circuits before coming to Barry County in the year of 1879 where he continued in his work one year before being superannuated. He continued as a local preacher until the last sickness. He leaves a wife and one daughter, Mrs. Emma Howard, near Cassville, a son P. R. Mofatt. The funeral took place at the church in Washburn at 10 o'clock, Wednesday and the remains were buried at the Prairie Cemetery, immediately after service. |
