Headline DAVID HENRY MITTS DIES LAST SUNDAY MORNING
Text David Henry Mitts was born in Adams County, Ill., Oct. 7, 1856. Died at his home three miles east of Cassville, Mo., March 10, 1929 age 73 years, five months and three days, He was married to Anna Clingingsmith April 9, 1878. To this union three children were born, who are: Will, Ira and Nova Mitts, all of Cassville.

He moved from Illinois when 18 years of age, going to Trenton, Mo., and lived there until 1898, when he came to Barry County, east of Cassville, where he lived until death came. He was converted in 1901 and united with the Christian church at Cassville, where he remained a devoted member until death. He was a kind and devoted husband and loving father, a citizen who had many friends. He will be missed by his family and neighbors.

He is survived by his wife, three sons, three brothers, Harvey Mitts, of Trenton, Mo., Tom Mitts of Burton, Ill., and one sister Hannah Brown of California. He also left nine grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn his going.

Funeral services were conducted at the Christian church in Cassville, on Monday afternoon, March 11, 1929 by Chas Vanzandt. Burial in the Horner Cemetery, under direction of the Hankins Funeral Service.

Mr. Mitts had an extensive acquaintance throughout this section where he had resided many years and was a man that stood for honest straight-forward dealings. His word was his bond and all regarded him highly. A few years ago he operated a county store at his home and enjoyed a nice business. He also engaged in farming and was very successful.

His estimable wife is an excellent lady and dearly loved by all who know her.

His passing is a great loss to this section of the county and the Democrat joins the many friends of the Mitts family in extending sympathy in their sad hour of bereavement. Many beautiful floral offerings were received by friends and relatives of the family and splendid music was rendered at the services by Mrs. John Ray, Mrs. Glen Pearl and Chas. Willis and Clint Blythe.
