Text | Anna Elizabeth Clinginsmith was born in Adams County, Illinois, April 24, 1856. She died at the home of her son Ira Mitts, in Cassville, at 9 p.m. Aug. 16, 1929, age 73 years, 3 months and 22 days. She was married to David Henry Mitts, April 9, 1873. To this union three children were born, who are: Will and Ira Mitts of Cassville, and Nova of Lamar, Colo. Mrs. Mitts came to Barry county in 1898 where she lived until her death. She was converted at the age of thirteen years and was a member of the Christian church of Cassville, where she remained a devoted member. She was a kind and loving mother, and did not want to cause any one any trouble. She is survived by her three children, two brothers, Leander Clingingsmith of Ulysses, Neb. and Lewis Vickers of Whitewater, Kansas. Also one sister, Kate Wright. She also leaves nine grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn her passing. Her husband, D. H. Mitts, preceded her in death March 10, 1929. Funeral services were conducted at the Christian church on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 17, 1929 by Chas Vanzandt. Burial in the Horner cemetery, under the direction of the Horine Funeral Services. Mrs. Mitts was an excellent mother and neighbor. She was deeply loved by all her acquaintances and her every act was to do good. She had lived near this city for more than 40 years and enjoyed an extensive acquaintance. The Democrat joins the many friends of this grief stricken family in extending sincere sympathy in their said hour of bereavement.
