Obit For Larissa (Lindsey) Mitchell
Headline In Death's Embrace
Text Larissa Lindsey Mitchell, wife of R. G. Mitchell, passed to her eternal home Saturday, Dec. 30, 1911 at the family home on North Main street in this city after only a few days of sickness of pneumonia.

Mrs. Mitchell had been enjoying the blessing of health for a number of years. She was taken sick Monday of last week. Pneumonia developed in a day or two and took her away with only a short struggle. Her days of suffering were few which is a great consolation to the bereaved members of the family.

Mrs. Mitchell was born June 9, 1855 in Cook County, Tex., and moved with her parents to Dallas Co., MO, in 1868 where she grew to womanhood. She was married to R. G. Mitchell, May 7, 1876 at Louisburg by Eld. J. H. Womack. She made a procession of faith in 1874 at the New Hope Baptist Church in Dallas County and united with the Baptist Church at that place. She continued a faithful member and an earnest worker in the church until death. She was baptized by the Rev. G. W. Mitchell, father of her husband, R. G. Mitchell.

She was the mother of four children, two having died in infancy. One son, Evard S. Mitchell, is the proprietor of the Carl Clothing Co., and one daughter, Miss Zulah, who lives with her father, have grown to manhood and womanhood. She leaves two brothers and four sisters: M. Lindsey of Louisburg and Lester Lindsey of Bonanza, Ore., Mrs. D. Rush of Buffalo, Mrs. T. A. Booth of Louisburg, Mrs. S. A. Bottom of Waggoner, Okla., and Mrs. B. F. Hackney of Lakeland, California.

Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell and family moved to Cassville in 1882 from Sarcoxie where they had lived for about one year. For about twenty years, they have been citizens of this city. Mrs. Mitchell loved her house and was much devoted to her family. She numbered her friends by her acquaintances. Her influence was always for good and in her death, the church has lost one of its faithful members, the community and city a good citizen and the family a loving, devoted and sacrificing mother.

The funeral services were held at the family residence Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Ed Chappell and the body amid the beautiful floral tributes sent by loving friends was laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery.
