Text | Jeremiah Miller, known as Uncle "Jerry"
Miller, died on Wednesday morning, January 26 and Mrs. Miller on Thursday
morning, January 27, 1916, only about 24 hours apart. Funeral services for Mr. Miller were held at the Mineral Springs Baptist Church Thursday, conducted by Revs. Ennes and Riddle. The funeral for Mrs. Miller was conducted near Jenkins on Friday. Mr. Miller had been twice married and his body was buried by the side of his first wife. He and his second wife had been married only about ten years. Her family cemetery was near Jenkins and her body was laid to rest there. Jeremiah Miller was born in Iowa in 1834. He came to this state sometime before the Civil War. He enlisted in Co. B. of the 24 Missouri Infantry and severed faithfully until the close of the war. Sometime after the war he moved to Barry County were he continued to live until his death. For many years he lived in the locality about Mineral Springs, was a member of the Baptist Church at that place and an honored and respected citizen. He left no children, except an adopted son, Roy Miller of Tulsa, Okla. Roy arrived in time to attend the funeral. |
