Text | Linda Duncan May, 72 of Cassville, Missouri, passed away of brain cancer, on March 30, 2011. She was born at Purdy on March 5, 1939, the daughter of Burnis and Violet Duncan. On August 7, 1957, she was united in marriage to Leland May. Her undergraduate education was at Purdy, her BA in English at Southwest Baptist University, Bolivar and her MA at Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville. She finished her thirty year educational career as Director of Special Services at the Maryville Public Schools where she served many years. Throughout the years she enjoyed gardening, especially floral and she and her husband did extensive travel in Europe and Asia, some for educational reasons and others for pleasure. She was active in Baptist churches where she lived, often teaching a Sunday School Class, serving as church pianist or singing in the choir. She was committed to helping people. Survivors include husband, Leland May; three children and five grandchildren: David May and wife Pam of Kansas City, Jonathan May and his three children, Aaron, Austin and Ashley of Des Moines and Jennifer Crosby and her husband, Mark and their two children Coleman and Duncan of Kansas City. She is also survived by one brother Carl Max Duncan and his wife, Norma of Cassville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 4, 2011, in Cassville First Baptist Church, under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Reverend James Weaver and Doctor David May will conduct the services. Burial will be in Purdy Cemetery, Purdy, Missouri. |
