Text | Cecil "Jew" May, age 76, of Exeter, passed away Wednesday morning, April 21, 1993 in the South Barry County Hospital. He was born on June 12, 1916 at Exeter, the son of Dan and Laura Robinson May. On September 30, 1966, he was united in marriage. His wife survives. Also surviving is one son of Cassville; two step-sons and one sister, Gertie Tucker of San Bernardino, California; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers and three sisters. Mr. May received his education in Exeter. He was a life-long resident of Exeter where he farmed most of his life. He was employed with Barry County Co-Op for nine years. Jew had been in poor health the past two years. He was converted at the Calvary Baptist Church and served with the National Guard. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 23, in the Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. The Rev. Hugh Higgs conducted the services. Song selections were "Peace in the Valley", "I won't have to Worry" and "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder". Burial was in Antioch Cemetery. Research Note: There were a couple of errors in the newspaper article. Cecil May's date of birth was actually June 21, 1916 and his sister, Gertie Tucker was living in Sacramento County, California. She never lived in San Bernardino. Gertie May Tucker passed away on Feb. 2, 1998 in Placer County, California. |
